Copenhagen Interlit – formerly known as Copenhagen Litt – presents internationally renowned writers of cutting edge quality fiction. Since the festival was launched in 2008 it has been visited by more than 400 writers – amongst these Salman Rushdie, Paul Auster, Xiaolu Guo, Tahar Ben Jelloun, and Jennifer Egan.

In 2014 the Guest of Honour will be China. Three promient writers from China – Wang Gang, Fan Wen, and Xi Chuan – will visit Copenhagen in May, but writers from Mexico, Turkey, France, the Chezh Republic, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark will also be present. All of them will discuss literature across frontiers.

Copenhagen Interlit is led by festival director Ivan Rod.

May 20th 17:00-18:00 – Central Library Frederiksberg (Falkoner Plads 3)

PRE SESSION. Chinese literature contextualized. Anne Wedell-Wedellsborg presents themes and talks with the Chinese guests of honour of the CPH INTERLIT (IN CHINESE / ENGLISH)

May 22nd 17:00-18:30 – The Royal Playhouse (Sankt Annæ Plads 36)

OPENING SESSION. More than one billion Chinese. A rich culture and a fascinating literature. Almost unknown in the West. Meet three Chinese guests of honour on stage: the novelist Wang Gang, the novelist Fan Wen, and the poet Xi Chuan (IN CHINESE / ENGLISH)

May 23rd 14:00-16:30 – Tranquebar Book Cafe (Borgergade 14)

Intimate sessions with Chinese novelist Wang Gang, the novelist Fan Wen, and the poet Xi Chuan, and with Juan Pablo Villalobos from Mexico, Petr Vasa from the Czech Republic, Ciler Ilhan from Turkey, and Laurent Seksik from France. These sessions mark the 8th anniversary of the Book Cafe.

May 23rd 17:00-18:30 – The Royal Playhouse (Sankt Annæ Plads 36)

Literature across frontiers. Exile. Double identity. What does it do to the writing? Meet Mexican novelist Juan Pablo Villalobos, Turkish short story writer Ciler Ilhan, French novelist Laurent Seksik, and the Czech physical poet Petr Vasa (IN ENGLISH)

May 24th 14:00-17:00 – Malmø Stadsbibliotek, Sweden (Kung Oscars väg 11)

Nordic writing, croos culture. A double identity. Meet Eva Tind (DEN/PRK) and Shadi Bazeghi (DEN/IRN) (IN INTER-SCANDINAVIAN)

Nordic writing, cross culture. A double identity. What does it mean? How does it affect the writing. Meet four Scandinavian writers: Mazen Maarouf (ICE), Johanna Holmström (FIN), Hassan Loo Sattarvandi (SWE), and Guro Sibeko (NOR) – in artist talks about specific Nordic, cross cultural literature (IN INTER-SCANDINAVIAN)

May 24th 19:00-23:00 – Borups Højskole (Frederiksholms Kanal 24)

Nordic writing, cross culture. A double identity. Meet Birgithe Kosovic (DEN), Hassan Preisler (DEN), Hassan Loo Sattarvandi (SWE), Tijana Miskovic (DEN), Eva Tind (DEN), Guro Sibeko (NOR), Shadi Bazeghi (DEN), and Athena Farrokhzad (SWE), amongst other writers in artist talks about specific Nordic, cross cultural literature (IN INTER-SCANDINAVIAN).

The festival will be closed by Anna Kruse Trio (SWE/DEN) singing poems by Edith Södergran at an after party at Borups Højskole.
